Michael Seltzer, Founder
Michael Seltzer is widely recognized as one of the top attorneys and business executives in the music industry. He has structured, negotiated, closed and managed thousands of deals, including many of the most impactful and innovative transactions in the history of the business. Seltzer has been named to Billboard’s Top Lawyers List for the past ten years and recognized in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Music Business Worldwide and HITS Magazine for his various achievements.
Prior to founding the firm, Seltzer served as the Executive Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs and Global Head of Commercial Transactions for the world’s largest music company, Universal Music Group (UMG). There, he shaped and negotiated the company’s creative and commercial ventures including recording contracts, label ventures, merchandise, touring, acquisitions, executive employment, trademarks, brand partnerships, film/TV and theatrical productions, equity and asset acquisitions, digital platforms, and new technology deals.
Earlier in his career, Seltzer served as Senior Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs and General Counsel for labels including Island, Def Jam, Motown, Verve, and Republic. He received a B.A. in Dramatic Literature from Cornell University and a J.D. from the Cardozo School of Law in NYC.
